              Applying moisturiser is easy, right? Scoop it out of the pot, rub it into the skin and leave to sink in. Wrong. It turns out that a lot of us are doing it wrong, leaving us susceptible to breakouts and dry skin that could easily be avoided. That’s why, in our quest to help you achieve perfect skin, we’ve rounded up advice from skincare experts to compile some tips of how to apply moisturiser the expert way because the chances are that you’re probably doing it wrong.

              Clogged pores, greasy skin and breakouts are all a sign of using too much product. Speaking to Byrdie.com, skincare expert Cecilia Wrong says: “If you’re experiencing these symptoms it’s a good idea to reduce the amount you use or explore a different product that’s more suitable for your skin type.”

              There’s nothing wrong with an extensive skincare regime but applying too many layers can actually make skin bumpy and greasy.? However, if you’re a lover of a 12-step regime, don’t fret as there are a number of things that you can do when applying your moisturiser to help it sink into the sink. 1. Leave 1 minute between applying products. 2. Pat the product into the skin.

              You’re applying moisturiser to dirty skin

              If you’re not cleansing and exfoliating thoroughly, moisturisers can’t sink into the skin effectively. When the skin has a build-up of old cells that aren’t removed, the drier the skin becomes.
