The story behind The Balm
In 2004, founder of The Balm, Marissa Shipman had a thought that indulged her cosmetic curiosities. That thought was that there are very few beauty products that make her look and feel glam all of the time, and she figured, that if she needed them, then other women did too. With that, she bought 11 books from Amazon on how to make makeup and started mixing in her kitchen. “I went makeup crazy. I incorporated the company, worked out a budget, hired a chemist and designed website.” And The Balm was born…
