Womenswear Runway Round up – London Fashion Week AW19

Guest post by Emma Bowkett, Fashion Editor at Coggles

Although it may seem that we’ve just left AW18 at the door, the fashion world is just getting started as we look ahead to what’s in store for your winter wardrobe. With fashion month coming to a close we’re calling out AW19 trends spotted at London Fashion Week 2019.

              CHECK MATE

Not only a British favourite, but also an AW19 look we’ll certainly be adopting. London Fashion Week was check central, with big checks, small checks, colourful checks and check clashing out in full force. We saw a lot of this at JW Anderson, Rejina Pyo and Victoria Beckham to name a few.

The head to toe minimal black outfit has been a strong look for a long time, and it’s showing no sign of stopping now. The darker nights will be replicated in our choice of outfit this winter, seen here at Alexa Chung’s debut runway show, it was regular look on the runways of London Fashion Week.

              ?THE CLASH

Stripes, polka dot, checks florals and leopard print galore! You’ll either love it or hate it, but pattern clashing is BIG this AW19. Layered prints and patterned accessories will be a huge trend this autumn winter season.

              OVERSIZED TAILORING

With a clear influence coming from the structured shoulders of 80’s suiting, a big trend spotted throughout Fashion month was oversized tailoring. From Toga to Victoria Beckham?big suit jackets with double breasted button fastening and tailored trousers were seen at almost every show. Oversized waist belts clinching clothes in at the waist was another reoccurring feature.

              SATIN STYLE

Flowing silky satin textures in autumnal colours were popular on the runway, and particularly seen in dresses, shirts and skirts. We saw a lot of this at the Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Shrimps show.

              Editor's Picks

              PLEATS

Particularly present in skirts and dresses, pleats made an appearance at a variety of shows during fashion month. Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Proenza Schouler to name a few celebrated the flattering shape and elongating qualities of the pleated skirt.
